TSUYO Unveils Gen 3.0 Powertrain and India’s First e-3W AMT

Leading EV powertrain manufacturer Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of its next-generation electric motor and powertrain technologies, aimed at enhancing performance, efficiency and durability across India’s fast-growing electric light commercial vehicle and three-wheeler segments.

TSUYO’s Gen 3.0 IPM motor and controller architecture have been  engineered for improved thermal management, easier servicing and enhanced reliability. Key innovations include external Hall sensor placement and split-phase cabling to improve heat dissipation and system robustness. An aluminium cast controller housing enhances thermal performance, while external bootloader access simplifies software updates. The system also features an LED-based fault indication for faster diagnostics and upgraded MOSFET technology to support premium and high-performance EV applications.

In a significant industry first, TSUYO introduced India’s first AMT solution for electric three-wheelers. The automated manual transmission is designed to improve range, enhance load-handling capability and boost gradeability, enabling even low-power motors to deliver greater versatility in demanding operating conditions.

The company also unveiled a patented magnet-less SynRM motor featuring a novel rotor architecture that reduces reliance on imported rare-earth materials. The development aligns with the national Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision by strengthening localised and resource-efficient manufacturing.

Further advancing motor performance, TSUYO’s new hairpin winding technology increases power density, delivers up to 20 percent higher performance and extends motor life. Complementing the powertrain upgrades is a flat tube axle with a common gear interface, designed to improve load capacity and simplify parts management for L3 and Mini-L5 electric vehicles.

Mr. Vijay Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO, Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, said the launch marks a shift from assembly-led adoption to engineering-led innovation in India’s EV ecosystem. He emphasised that the new products have been designed specifically for Indian operating realities, balancing cost sensitivity, durability and performance under diverse road and load conditions.
