JSW Motors Joins Tata IIS to Build India’s First End-to-End EV Manufacturing Talent Pipeline

JSW Motors Limited, the new energy vehicle (NEV) arm of the JSW Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tata Indian Institute of Skills (Tata IIS) to create a structured technical talent pipeline ahead of the commissioning of its greenfield EV manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The partnership marks the company’s first major step toward building an industry-leading skilling ecosystem to support its long-term manufacturing vision.

Under the collaboration, JSW Motors and Tata IIS will co-develop a dedicated curriculum tailored to the needs of advanced EV manufacturing. The programme will cover EV systems, automation, welding, CNC operations, battery technologies and next-generation manufacturing processes. JSW Motors will retain full hiring control and curriculum validation rights, ensuring tight alignment between training outcomes and the company’s evolving production requirements.

Mr. Rupam Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer, JSW Motors Limited, said, “At JSW Motors, skilling is not an HR function, it is a business imperative. As we build our manufacturing operations, we need people who are ready from Day One. The Tata IIS partnership gives us structured capability, relevant curriculum, and the execution rigour aligned to our timelines. This is a deliberate bridge as we work towards building our own world-class training academy.”

Tata IIS was selected after a competitive national evaluation of skilling institutions, standing out for its industry-grade training infrastructure, strong track record with OEMs, and application-oriented learning methods ideal for modern EV manufacturing. The collaboration also builds on an existing relationship between Tata IIS and the JSW Foundation through group-wide skilling initiatives.

Mr. Venguswamy Ramaswamy, CEO Designate, Tata Indian Institute of Skills, “At Tata IIS, our mission is to solve the nation’s skill challenges by creating a next-generation workforce that is not just job-ready but future-ready. By designing bespoke programs in advanced manufacturing, we are equipping India’s youth with the high-precision skills required to drive the next generation of automotive excellence.”

JSW Motors’ broader skilling roadmap extends well beyond its factory workforce. The company plans to scale capability-building initiatives across its supplier ecosystem, dealer network and even end customers, creating a fully EV-ready value chain. Over time, JSW Motors intends to establish an in-house academy dedicated to advanced manufacturing and future mobility technologies—positioning itself as a capability leader as it builds one of India’s most ambitious new-age automotive manufacturing operations.
