Jio-bp to Charge Up Over 100 Electric Buses Across UP and Delhi

Jio-bp, the joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp, has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to set up fast-charging infrastructure for more than 100 electric buses operating across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The project will be delivered through Jio-bp Pulse, the company’s electric mobility arm, and is expected to roll out over the next few months across six clusters.

At the heart of the initiative is the deployment of fast chargers designed for high-frequency commercial fleet operations — the kind of back-to-back duty cycles that public buses run every day. The aim is to reduce turnaround time between trips and improve the overall operational efficiency of electric bus services on these corridors.

The UPSRTC is one of India’s largest state transport undertakings, and its move towards electric buses is part of a broader national push to clean up public transport. The Jio-bp partnership adds a private sector anchor to that effort, bringing in fast-charging expertise and an already-established national network to support the transition.
