Tata Motors rolls out 10 lakhth CV from Lucknow plant

Tata Motors Ltd., India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, marked a significant milestone with the rollout of its 10 lakhth commercial vehicle from the Lucknow facility. The achievement commemorates over three-and-a-half decades of the company’s presence in Uttar Pradesh and its sustained contribution to industrial excellence, economic growth, skill development and livelihood creation.

At a time when India’s commercial vehicle industry is rapidly transitioning towards cleaner, smarter and more efficient mobility solutions, this milestone reinforces Tata Motors’ leadership in shaping the future of mobility. The landmark vehicle – a zero-emission electric bus – highlights the shared commitment of Tata Motors and the Government of Uttar Pradesh to green mobility, aligned with the state’s net-zero 2070 vision and the company’s net-zero target of 2045.

The vehicle was flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, along with Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons Ltd., in the presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Brajesh Pathak, Mr. Girish Wagh, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., and other senior government officials and company leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Yogi Adityanath said, “The rollout of 10 lakh trucks and buses from Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility is a moment of pride for the entire state. It reflects both the capabilities of Uttar Pradesh and the potential of its people. Our vision is to transform the state into a one-trillion-dollar economy, with industry and entrepreneurship playing a pivotal role. Established in 1992, the Lucknow facility has evolved into one of Tata Motors’ most significant commercial vehicle manufacturing hubs. Spread over approximately 600 acres, the plant produces trucks and buses across multiple powertrains, including zero-emission electric and fuel-cell electric vehicles.

The facility combines manufacturing scale with a strong focus on people and sustainability. It supports over 8,000 livelihoods, operates as a water-positive facility, and is powered entirely by renewable energy. It also plays a key role in strengthening the supplier ecosystem, enabling MSMEs and ancillary industries across Uttar Pradesh and beyond.

Mr. N. Chandrasekaran added, “The production of the 10 lakhth commercial vehicle from Lucknow reflects the strength of our longstanding partnership with Uttar Pradesh. Over the past three decades, this collaboration has demonstrated how industry, government and communities can work together to drive excellence, create livelihoods and build capabilities at scale. We remain committed to supporting the state’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive growth while shaping a future-ready mobility ecosystem.”

This milestone underscores Tata Motors’ enduring commitment to Uttar Pradesh, anchored in manufacturing excellence, people-centric growth and responsible industrialisation. As the company advances on its net-zero journey, the Lucknow facility will continue to play a pivotal role in enabling a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility future for India.

World-class manufacturing at scale
The Lucknow facility is one of Tata Motors’ most advanced production hubs, manufacturing a comprehensive range of cargo and passenger vehicles. With an annual capacity of over one lakh units, the plant supports both domestic and international markets, delivering products that meet global standards of quality, safety and performance.

Building shared prosperity through people and skills
At its core, the facility reflects Tata Motors’ commitment to inclusive growth. It generates over 8,000 employment opportunities and plays a critical role in strengthening the regional economy. The company has also invested significantly in workforce diversity and inclusion, with women forming a growing share of the workforce and dedicated opportunities created for persons with disabilities.

The plant serves as a hub for skill development through flagship programmes such as Kaushalya, Lakshya and Saksham. Through its Dual System of Training (DST) and large-scale apprenticeship initiatives, Tata Motors has equipped thousands of young individuals with industry-relevant skills, enabling sustainable and dignified livelihoods.

Driving sustainability through advanced manufacturing
