Battery Smart Becomes India’s First to Hit 100 Million Swaps, Launches ₹10 Cr Driver Welfare Fund

In a milestone that signals India’s fast-growing shift towards electric mobility, Battery Smart has become the nation’s first company to complete 100 million battery swaps across its e-two-wheeler and e-three-wheeler network. The achievement comes just five years after its founding and highlights the success of its tech-driven, hyper-scalable swapping model — one that today powers an estimated 70% of India’s battery-swapping infrastructure.

To mark the breakthrough and strengthen its support for riders, the company has announced the Driver Welfare Fund 2026, a ₹10 crore initiative designed to improve financial and social security for its nearly 1 lakh-strong driver community. The fund will offer insurance support, financial protection, referral rewards, free swaps, and skill-building programmes.

Co-founders Mr. Pulkit Khurana and Mr. Siddharth Sikka described the 100 million–swap milestone as a major moment for India’s EV transition. “Each swap represents a choice — a driver choosing clean mobility over combustion, and uptime over waiting. This achievement belongs to our community of drivers, station partners, OEMs, investors, and policymakers who believed battery swapping could scale in India,” they said. They added that the Driver Welfare Fund reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the people who power its ecosystem.

Battery Smart has also built one of the most inclusive EV networks in the country, enabling over 5,000 women EV drivers and 250+ women swap-station partners. Its IoT-enabled batteries and real-time monitoring ensure high uptime, predictive maintenance, and fast turnaround — essential for gig-economy operators who depend on every productive hour.

The company now plans to expand its presence to 100 more cities by 2026, deploy thousands of additional swap stations, and significantly increase daily swaps. Its roadmap includes investments in next-generation safety systems, smarter IoT intelligence, and continued collaboration with industry and policy stakeholders to accelerate India’s clean mobility future.
