Piyush Goyal inaugurates SIAM EV Zone at IEC GM 2025, showcasing India’s Green Mobility Drive

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal inaugurated the EV Zone at the 89th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC GM) being held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 15–19 September 2025.

The EV Zone, hosted by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and themed “Fostering a Sustainable World,” highlights India’s progress in electric mobility and clean technologies.

Mr. Goyal explored 31 production-ready electric vehicles displayed by 14 leading OEMs including Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW MG Motor, Mercedes-Benz, Kia India, EKA Mobility, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Suzuki Motorcycle India, Piaggio, and Ather Energy. The exhibits reflected India’s growing capability in building sustainable and future-ready transport solutions.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said sustainability was central to India’s growth vision and noted that strong standards were key to protecting consumers, building trust, and making Indian products globally competitive. He expressed confidence that products designed and made in India would soon be known worldwide for their reliability, sustainability, and excellence.

SIAM Executive Director Mr. Prashant K Banerjee said the industry is aligned with the Government’s vision and is committed to building safe, sustainable, and globally trusted mobility solutions.

The IEC GM 2025, hosted by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), has brought together over 2,000 experts from 100+ countries to discuss international electrotechnical standards. The exhibition also features innovations in smart lighting, electronics, and IT manufacturing.
