Tata Hitachi Unveils Ground-Breaking Electric Excavator

At EXCON 2023, Tata Hitachi, represented by B K R Prasad, General Manager – Marketing, shared details of their innovative equipment with Rajesh Rajgor. The highlights included the unveiling of an indigenous electric excavator and a vehicle recycler, demonstrating Tata Hitachi’s commitment to sustainability. Prasad also emphasized market leadership, proactive preparations for BS5 norms, and optimism for growth in the construction industry, aligning with the vision of contributing to India’s infrastructure development.

At EXCON 2023, Tata Hitachi showcased aexcavator diverse range of equipment, emphasizing their commitment to innovation and sustainability. B K R Prasad, General Manager – Marketing, Tata Hitachi, welcomed Motor India to their stall, stating, “EXCON is the largest CE exhibition in South Asia, and Tata Hitachi has always participated in a big way. This edition has only gotten bigger and better from our previous ones.”

Highlighting a significant milestone, Prasad unveiled the first-ever indigenous electric excavator, addressing the global shift towards alternative fuels. He explained, “Fossil fuels are limited, and globally, there is momentum towards alternate fuels. This edition of EXCON is extra special as we unveiled the first-ever electric excavator, a 3-ton capacity marvel powered by a 32 KW battery, emphasizing our commitment to a sustainable tomorrow.”

Prasad further outlined their innovative strides, including Hitachi’s 5-ton short radius excavator called ZAXIS 55- 6EB, showcasing Tata Hitachi’s alignment with global trends in battery-powered machinery.

He added, “Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond excavators. We have also unveiled a vehicle recycler,

aligning with the Indian government’s vehicle scrappage policy, contributing to sustainable practices in the industry.”

Prasad discussed the imperative shift towards sustainable practices, unveiling EX 235 LC-VR – a vehicle recycler in response to India’s upcoming vehicle scrappage policy. He explained, “This machine, unveiled at EXCON 2023, meets the demands of recycling scrapped vehicles. It has a Nibbler and a clamp to hold the vehicles in place, ripping them apart for recycling, aligning with our commitment to sustainable actions.”

Underlining Tata Hitachi’s market leadership in excavators, Prasad credited their success to continuous innovation, pioneering efforts, and an understanding of customer needs. He showcased the company’s milestones, saying, “Tata Hitachi was the first to create the mini excavator segment in India with our launch of TMX20 and EX60. Today, it is the fastest-growing segment, and in mining, we continue to expand with models like the ZAXIS 490H ULTRA”

Prasad also detailed Tata Hitachi’s preparations for the upcoming BS5 emission norms, emphasizing their proactive stance in adapting to industry changes. He highlighted the extensive dealer network, stating, “With more than 50+ dealers and 275+ touchpoints across the country, we ensure robust customer support from pre-sales to disposal.”

Looking ahead, Tata Hitachi is optimistic about the construction industry’s growth, targeting a 10-12% increase in excavator and wheel loader sales. The backhoe loader segment is expected to witness a remarkable 30% growth by March. Prasad concluded, “India being an country with evolving infrastructure needs, Tata Hitachi envisions immense potential for our products to drive future growth and contribute to the nation-building endeavor.”
